What’s Bend like?
is a fabulous place to live. Imagine spring skiing on a snow covered meadow in the morning, followed by lunch at the Taco Stand
or any of our great restaurants or coffee shops. Then it’s off to Smith Rock State Park
for an afternoon of rock climbing. Finish up the day by tipping your cowboy hat at the Sisters Rodeo
or catching a concert at the Les Schwab Ampitheater
(free if you’re sitting in your kayak on the Deschutes River) Goo Goo Dolls, Band of Horses, She & Him, Merle Haggard, Steve Miller Band, Clint Black , Willie Nelson and more are playing this summer. The next day- load up your backpack with local fruits, veggies and baked goods from the weekly farmers market
and head to Crater Lake
or the Mckenzie River Trail
to ride your bike through some of the Northwest’s most unique landscapes, or stay close to town and ride some of the hundreds of miles of maintained single track or drop in to one of our freeride
parks. In the afternoon, drop in to the gym at Central Oregon Community College
or Juniper Swim and Fitness
for a strength session. Chances are you’ll bump into Torin Koos, Lars Flora, Kristina Strandberg, Evelyn Dong or Brayton Osgood, because they live and train here too. Save day three for climbing South Sister
, a 10,358ft mountain 40 minutes from downtown. Don’t worry, the weather will be great, Bend averages 300 days of sunshine a year!

“I loved the group dynamic and the motivation all of the Academy athletes brought to all the workouts. I had a really great time at all of the camps, and especially loved playing soccer on Fridays. I’m really looking forward to this summer!”
Hilary Rich, Middlebury College, 5 JN podiums 2008-2009
“Nothing beats training with a group of skiers who are focused and fully dedicated to achieving high goals. My time in Bend allowed me to develop as an athlete–physically as well as mentally–in a supportive atmosphere. Top rate coaches and lots of individual attention helped me fill gaps in my skiing ability.”
