Brenna Knowles and Ben Husaby of the newly formed Bend Nordic Team have been selected for divisional and national leadership roles this winter.
“As we build the Bend Nordic Team, we are excited to be the largest Nordic team in the Pacific Northwest division with a staff that has the highest qualifications, levels of experience and responsibilities,” says Husaby. “We are also pleased to have been selected for leadership roles within our division and our national development system.”
Ben Husaby has been selected by the Nordic Competition Committee of the Pacific Northwest Ski Association to be the Head Coach of both the U.S. Cross Country Ski Championship and Junior National Championship teams.

The team will be training for and competing in 4 races throughout Norway from January 20th to February 3rd.
“This is a big stepping stone for me and I’m pleased to have accumulated enough experience to be qualified to coach at this level,” says Knowles. “I’m excited to meet these young skiers from across the country and help build a team that can excel on an international stage.”
Knowles was also selected as a member of the PNSA coaching staff for the Junior National Championships in Truckee, CA March 4-15, 2009. Knowles will lead the waxing operations for the PNSA team this year.
“The Far West always does an outstanding job with their events and we are doing everything we can to get all of our BNT skiers on that Junior National start line,” says Knowles. “And the BNT is also looking forward to a spring and summer filled with training opportunities for skiing and cycling as well as organizing regional and divisional camps.”
